PYT vs PYP vs Random: Break Formats Explained

PYT vs PYP vs Random: Break Formats Explained

The three formats you will see

Card breaks come in a few flavours. Here is what each one means and who it suits.

PYT — Pick Your Team

You choose a specific team before the break, and you keep every card from that team that is pulled from the boxes we open. Great if you collect a particular club or want players from one side.

PYP — Pick Your Player

You lock in a specific player, and any cards of that player are yours. Perfect if you are chasing one name — a favourite, a rookie, or a player you believe in.

Random

Spots are allocated randomly — teams or slots are assigned by a randomiser at the start. Often the most affordable way in, with an equal shot at the biggest hits, in exchange for a little more of the luck of the draw on what you end up with.

Which should you choose?

  • Want certainty? PYT or PYP — you know exactly what you are chasing.
  • Want value and do not mind the luck of the draw? Random.
  • New to breaks? Start with PYP on a player you love — it is the easiest to follow.

A note on fairness

However spots are allocated, the process should always be transparent. We hold ourselves to a high standard on this and are building provably-fair tools so allocations can be independently checked.
